Early Fall Sports

Cross Country

Cross Country is a sport offered to both 7th and 8thgrade boys and girls during the fall of each school year.  Four days a week the athletes come to practice to run various distances throughout the neighborhood as well as on school grounds.  The teams compete against the four other District 54 teams at least two times in a season both home and away.  At the end of the season, the Conference Championships are held at Hoover Elementary School.  The top ten runners from each grade level and gender are deemed All-Conference runners and receive medals at an awards ceremony.  The winning teams from each gender and grade level also receive a plaque to be displayed in their school’s trophy case. Cross Country is a great sport to get involved in at any level. All the coaches are dedicated to running, fitness, and providing everyone with a positive experience.  Practices are held generally on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with meets dispersed as evenly as   possible throughout the season.
