Food Service Program

Yay! School Meals are Free! What you need to know.
Help out your school! 
All students that may qualify for free or reduced lunch should still fill out the form as they will receive other benefits as well if they qualify. You can find a link to the app in the parent portal or on the district’s website under the food service tab.

Lunch
At all levels a lunch includes the following: 
A main item that usually consists of both protein and bread (this counts as two items), fruit, vegetable and milk.  They do not have to take all the items but they must take at least three items one of which must be a fruit or vegetable. For more information see the food service tab of our website. 

Elementary Schools and Pre-K:
1.    All elementary students and pre-k students need to order lunch through Nutrislice.  You can find detailed instructions under the food service tab on our website on how to order. 
2.    If you have ordered for your student in the past, please review each student’s account to make sure nothing has changed. 
3.    Please make sure to include your student number when ordering and choose the correct teacher for your student.  
4.    ALL ORDERS ARE DUE BY 7AM THE DAY OF- this is a change from last year.  You can order up to 30 days in advance. 
5.    Students may only have one free lunch a day, anything in addition will be charged to their account (extra entrée, extra milk, water, etc.). 
6.    If your student wants milk only this is NOT free, students must pay for the milk if they want only milk

Secondary Students: 
1.    These students do not need to order in advance. 
2.    Please make sure you have your id card with you, the lines will be long but having your card out and ready will speed things up for everyone.  
3.    Students may only have one free lunch a day, anything in addition will be charged to their account (extra entrée, extra milk, water, snack items, etc.). 
4.    If your student wants milk only this is NOT free, students must pay for the milk if they want only milk

Breakfast
At all levels a breakfast includes one breakfast item, a fruit and a milk.  Students may decide not to take the fruit or milk but must take one or the other. 

Elementary and Pre- K Students:  
1.    All students must pre order both breakfast through Nutrislice. You can find detailed instructions under the food service tab on our website on how to order.
2.    Please make sure to include your student number when ordering and choose the correct teacher for your student.

Secondary Students: 
1.    Students do not need to preorder their meals.  
2.    Breakfast will be available before school at both middle schools and the high school.  Students should head to the cafeteria to get their meal.  
3.    Ala carte items will be sold at breakfast and lunch. These items are not included in a free meal and will require students to pay for them.  Some examples are: a second entrée, a snack item, a drink other than milk or small 4oz juice.  
4.    If your student wants milk only this is NOT free, students must pay for the milk if they want only milk
 

Pre-K through Fifth Grade

 
Families must preorder meal for preschools and elementary students. Orders must be in by 7:00 am for both  preschool students and for elementary students in order to receive a breakfast or lunch that day. The system will not allow you to order after the time listed above. For your convenience, meals can be preordered up to 30 days in advance. To avoid any issues, we recommend ordering the night before.
 
Students may purchase ala carte or extra items in addition to a free meal using cash or money on their account.

Middle School and High School

Middle School and High Schools students do NOT need to preorder.  They will pick out what they want for lunch in line at lunchtime. 
 
 

What qualifies as a meal?

Schools are required to offer 5 components and students are required to take 3 of the 5 components to make a meal.
 
The following are school meal components:
  • Milk (fat-free or 1%, flavored or unflavored)
  • Meat/Meat Alternative
  • Bread/Grains 
  • Fruit*
  • Vegetables*
*Students are required to take 1/2 cup of a fruit or vegetable to make a meal
 
Examples of a reimbursable meal:
  • chili, cinnamon roll, and orange wedges
  • hamburger on bun, side salad, and milk
