News From Panther Headquarters
August 2022
From the desk of the Principal...
Hello Panther Families,
We are off to the races! It’s been a wonderful week with students and we are so excited for the start of a brand new year. It is our goal to provide you with timely, accurate and consistent communication so that you can be aware of everything HIJH. Our monthly newsletter is a good way to stay connected to events, special announcements and overall information regarding our school community. I would love to meet and chat with you if your schedule permits. As always, if you have a concern that you’d like to talk about, please come in and at the same time, if you just want to share your ideas—I welcome you to come in. We are looking forward to an amazing year of learning in what seemingly could be a “normal” year; something we’ve all missed for the last 2 years. Thank you for entrusting, what I believe is, one of your most prized possessions to us, your children. We will strive to Facilitate Learning and Foster Agency for ALL students.

Attendance/Early Dismissals
Please call the attendance line, 317-594-4126, by 9:00am to report Early Dismissals. This allows the staff adequate time to facilitate the request for dismissal. We will send your student a pass and have them waiting for you in the office at the time requested. If you are picking up your student after 3:30pm, please be aware that the car rider lane could be a double lane at that time.
If you do not call ahead……the parent/guardian will need to show identification to have the student dismissed. This is for the security of our students.
NOTE: Please be aware that it may take time to locate students who are at lunch, outside for P.E., Recess, etc. The more notice you can give the school, the smoother this process becomes. We appreciate your assistance!

Announcement For CPR Parent Meeting
CPR (Creating Positive Relationships) will be hosting a Parent Seminar for 5th grade families on Tuesday, August 9 at from 5:30- 6:20pm HIJH in Panther Hall. At this meeting, you will learn strategies to begin parenting conversations at home that will help your child navigate the changes that occur physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially during puberty.
While this event is specifically designated for 5th grade families, all families are welcome including those 6th grade families who may have missed this informational meeting the previous year. Because CPR is not taught in grade 5, this parent information session is offered to support conversations at home.
Creating Positive Relationships will be taught in grades 6, 7, and 8 during the PE/Wellness classes. For more detailed information about the 6th Grade Curriculum lessons, please see link below:
