Principal's Message
As the fall turns the weather cooler we head into one of my favorite times of the year. With my own kids starting school and sports it seems the busy time of life has hit. I am sure many of you are feeling it too.
The first month of school is all about routines. I love watching students get back into the swing of being students surrounded by 410 other friends. Me getting to know your students is a wonderful process. You have amazing students!
While academics start from day one, you will really begin to see an increased academic expectation in the coming months. Please reach out to your children's teachers with any celebrations or concerns you may have about how they are doing both academically and socially.
I am very excited to continue the journey of this school year with you all!

Student of the Month
Our first student of the month assembly was wonderful. For more than half our students it was their first assembly ever and for all students it was the first in two and a half years. We celebrated students for showing the character trait of kindness. Each month we will have an assembly to celebrate students in this way. If your student receives a student of the month award you will be invited to attend the assembly to see the award presented. I wish we had room to invite all parents to these assemblies as they are very fun, but unfortunately our gym is pretty packed with just the kiddos.
Attendance
Last month's newsletter described the importance of student attendance. It listed research on the impact of being chronically absent. Chronic attendance concerns are defined as missing more than 10% of school days. This averages out to just about 1 day a month.
As of the writing of this newsletter 165 students have perfect attendance this represents 39% of our students that still have perfect attendance. Based on the definition of chronic attendance above, 69 students are considered chronically absent at this point. This represents 16% of our student body (this means over 2 days of school at this point in this school year). The goal by the end of the year is to have less than 10% chronically absent. With your help we do have time to improve on this 16%.
Early next week I will begin sending letters about attendance to families informing them about attendance concerns. Thank you in advance for your understanding. If you have any concerns about attendance or district protocols in regards to attendance please reach out to me.

Fall Parent Conferences
It is that time of year again for parents to meet with teachers to discuss their child’s start to the school year at Fall Parent Conferences. Parent Conferences will be held during the evening on Wednesday, October 26 and either during the day or in the evening on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Parents will have the opportunity to attend in-person conferences, or schedule virtual conferences over zoom, depending upon which format works best for them.
High School Parent Conferences will be held a week later on the evening of Wednesday, November 2 or evening on Thursday, November 3, 2022. Parents will have the opportunity to attend either in-person or schedule virtual conferences as well based upon what works best for them.
Parents, please watch for additional information regarding upcoming Fall Parent Conferences from your individual school or teachers for additional information and how to sign up for either in-person or virtual parent conference times.
Yellow Curbs
Picture Day
It is always so fun to see all the students dressed in their finest, many with new haircuts arriving on picture day morning. We will be sure to get to students as early in the day as possible so we can keep the shine on them before the typically sweaty recess.
Thank you to the PTO for supporting picture day with parent volunteers.
Fundraiser
We think it is very important to remind parents not to have your students do door to door sales without an adult present with them. Please be sure to hit up Grandma and Grandpa too!
